This blog was created for the purpose of documenting some of the happenings in Haiti as experienced by my father-in-law Neal Peterson. Neal is the manager of Deseret Transportation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is one of thousands of church employees and volunteers who have traveled to Haiti in order to offer help and aid to the victims of the 7.0 earthquake that struck on January 12, 2010.

Saying Goodbye

The whole family gathered at Grandma and Grandpa's house last night to say goodbye and for the men to give Grandpa a blessing before his departure. It was an emotional time for everyone but we trust that Heavenly Father will bring him safely back home to us.

Saying goodbye to the grandkids.
Suzy, Chad (my husband), Amy (Chad's sister), and I along with our little boy dropped Neal off at Million Air Airport last night at around 10:00. We were able to go out to the plane with Neal and say goodbye.

This is one of many private planes that many generous people have donated to help get the relief supplies and people down to Haiti. This particular jet is what Neal and two other church employees along with lots of food and other relief supplies traveled in. The donor of this plane had chosen to remain anonymous but we hope they know how appreciated their generosity has been.
They took off just before 11:00 pm last night and arrived safely at around 7:00 am Haitian time (5:00 am Utah time) this morning, February 5, 2010.
