This blog was created for the purpose of documenting some of the happenings in Haiti as experienced by my father-in-law Neal Peterson. Neal is the manager of Deseret Transportation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is one of thousands of church employees and volunteers who have traveled to Haiti in order to offer help and aid to the victims of the 7.0 earthquake that struck on January 12, 2010.

Update from Neal:
E-mail received this morning:
"Top of the mornin to ya. Someone put some Irish Spring into a hygiene kit for us to wash our face. I did my own special sponge bob sqare pants dance with the wet wipes. No shaving on saturday. Remembered to use filtered water for tooth brush. The humidity here keeps my skin so soft and supple. More like a state of slippery.Got sleep, got milk form Gosner's in Logan (you don't refrigerate it) got my oatmeal." Living the life! Ha ha.
He mentioned making an early morning delivery in his ops clothes for security reasons which doesn't make much sense right now but he said he'll elaborate more on that later.
Suzy got a phone call from him and he said that they have to make their deliveries at night to avoid riots and high-jackers. He was finally able to get some sleep last night after being up for 36 hours. Neal has trained a Haitian to drive truck for the Bishop's Storehouse. Today, Neal is making a delivery to a town called Jacmel where the people have not eaten for days.

Neal has many positive things to say about the people of Haiti. He says that they are very kind, quiet, and hard working. They are so grateful for the help they have been receiving from all of the various organizations.
